Black Women's Equal Pay Day : Know Your Worth (Nashville)

  • Tech Hill Commons 500 Interstate Boulevard South #200 Nashville, TN 37210 (map)

This year we are honoring black women's equal pay day (August 22) with a panel showcasing black women financial experts who will share best practice for advocating for equality when it comes to negotiating salaries or freelance rates. For this panel we are so excited to be partnering with Lemons 2 Lemonade!

We will discuss why black women receiving equal pay is important to closing the racial wealth gap.

This event is for all people who want to hear experiences of fighting for equal pay as a black woman.

This panel is hosted by Brittney Oliver of Lemons 2 Lemonade.

While at Union she was able to serve as Class President, Phi Lambda Sigma president, Admissions committee student representative and APhA Membership Vice President. Dr. Williams currently resides in Nashville with her husband Darius Williams and daughter Jordyn where she is the pharmacy manager at an independent pharmacy. In her spare time she loves spending time with family and friends, reading and traveling.

Mitra Sharifi is a Money + Mindset Coach and Speaker, Founder of the Psychology of Spending, and host of @MoneyTalksConvo, a live couch conversation series that includes open dialogue on how to navigate in a world where “Money Talks” through social advantage, power, and control. Originally a pre-med major at Vanderbilt University, Mitra changed her major after deciding helping people was her calling and she did not need the prestigious title of Dr. to do so. With a fascination for the mind and behavior, Mitra found a passion for psychology and completed her bachelor’s followed by a Master’s degree (the first in her family) in Clinical Psychology. The educational system “failed” her when she could not find anyone to hire her and provide the experience required by employers during what would later be known to millennials as the financial crisis. After some odd end jobs, Mitra ended up working in the mortgage industry. It was here her love of finance was born, where she noticed patterns and behaviors around spending. When hitting her goal income of 6 figures did not bring her the happiness and inner peace she desired (leaving her more unfulfilled), Mitra realized she was out of alignment with her authentic self and knew she had to make a change focusing on the impact, not on the money this time. After marrying her passions of psychology and finance, the Psychology of Spending was born. Her mission is to normalize money conversation and eliminate cycles of guilt, shame, and avoidance so many experience. Mitra is intentional about helping people elevate their money mindsets and truly step into their purpose, creating the lives they imagine.
